Trump announces Brent Bozell as US Ambassador to South Africa

Published on March 27, 2025 at 01:37 PM

President Donald Trump has announced Brent Bozell as the next United States Ambassador to South Africa.

Trump, in a post on Truth Social, said Brent “brings fearless tenacity, extraordinary experience, and vast knowledge to a nation that desperately needs it.”

The president noted that the 69-year-old Brent, founder of the Media Research Center, “has exposed Fake News hypocrites for many years.”

The appointee is a pro-Israel media activist whose blog site broadcasts “conservative values, culture, and politics to expose liberal media bias.”

The nomination of Brent, who needs the Senate's confirmation, comes after South Africa’s ambassador to Washington, Ebrahim Rasool, was expelled.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio described Rasool as a “race-baiting politician” and accused him of hating America and President Trump.

In a post on X, Rubio declared that the diplomat was a “persona non grata” and “no longer welcome in our great country.”

Rubio referenced an article that quoted some of Rasool's recent remarks made during an online session about the Trump administration.

Rasool said the U.S. leader was “mobilizing a supremacism” and trying to “project white victimhood as a dog whistle.”
