Trump unveils ‘most lethal fighter jet ever built’ with name that’s nod to presidency as he quips ‘generals picked it’

PRESIDENT Donald Trump has publicly unveiled his plans to build the most lethal fighter jet ever built by awarding Boeing billions of dollars.

Trump met with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in the Oval Office Friday to announce the project, which has a nod to himself in the name.

President Donald Trump has awarded a contract worth billions to aircraft company Boeing

Speaking to reporters, Trump said he was allocating money to complete a sixth-generation fighter jet titled F-47.

“The F-47 is equipped with state-of-the-art stealth technologies, virtually unseeable and unprecedented power,” Trump said, calling the jet's title a “beautiful name.”

“There's never been anything like it.”

Trump said the fleet would be built in the next “couple of years” during his administration and revealed the production is already underway.

“Our allies are calling constantly they want to buy them all,” he said.

According to Hegseth, the project will establish “the next generation of air dominance.”

He listed all of the fighter jets flown by the US military before saying, “Now we have the F-47, which sends a very direct clear message to our allies that we aren't going anywhere.”

Trump didn't share the price of the project because he said it would reveal too much about the technology in the jet, but the contract is said to be worth $20 billion, sources told Reuters.

The program is called Next Generation Air Dominance, and it will replace the F-22 Raptor, which was developed by defense company Lockheed Martin.
