Trump tariffs: Jaguar Land Rover to pause US shipments, reveals next step

Published on April 05, 2025 at 08:34 PM

Jaguar Land Rover has disclosed plans to pause all shipments to the United States (US).

The company also announced efforts to “address the new trading terms” following President Donald Trump's unveiling of his tariff programs on Thursday.

While outlining his tariff programs, Trump had announced a 25 percent levy on car imports.

A statement from a Jaguar Land Rover spokesperson said the company was “taking some short-term actions, including a shipment pause in April, as we develop our mid to longer-term plans.”

The Coventry-based car manufacturer stated that the US is an “important market for JLR's luxury brands.”

An initial wave of tariffs on cars came into effect on April 3, with import taxes on auto parts due to follow next month.

A separate 10 percent tariff will be imposed on all other UK imports, with higher rates in place for some other major economies.
