Canada Prime Minister, Mark Carney, has claimed that US President Donald Trump is “trying to break us so that America can own us”;.
Carney stated this in his victory speech after Liberals won the federal election on Monday.
Giving a speech in Ottawa, he claimed to be ready “for the worst”;, while taking aim at Trump.
“As I’ve been warning for months, America wants our land, our water, our resources, our country... never,”; Carney vowed.
Carney insisted that these were not “idle threats,”; adding: “President Trump is trying to break us so that America can own us.
“That will never, ever happen. But we also must recognize the reality that our world has fundamentally changed.”;
However, Carney has said he will meet with Trump amid “a crisis that we did not create”; and promised to “win this trade war with America.”;
He said: “When I sit down with President Trump, it will be to discuss the future economic and strategic relationship between two sovereign nations and it will be with full knowledge that we have many other options to build prosperity for all Canadians.”;
