After leaving their posts, both hosts were stunned to discover it was all an April Fool's prank by producers

But as the duo were bringing viewers the latest news of the day, an alarm activated in the studio.

Stopping them in their tracks, Nat then turned to her co-host and asked: “Are we being told to evacuate?”

Shirvo replied to her as he stood up: “That's a fire alarm, we should go.”

Nat waited on direction from the show's producers, as she was insistent on carrying on the programme.

She said: “I don't want to evacuate my post Shirvo, I think we should stay. I can't see a fire.”

Eventually they were ushered by crew to leave their posts and evacuated the studio while remaining on air.

Nat told viewers at home: “We're still on, this has been going on outside the offices.

“Now, they're telling us in the studio to go.”

However, it turned out to be an epic April Fool's Day prank by Sunrise's bosses and there was no emegency.

As Nat and Shirvo left the studio a door carried the message ‘April Fools' as a crew member sprinkled gold confetti into the air.
