U-20 AFCON: Flying Eagles coach, Zubairu reacts to ‘favourable’ draw

Published on April 14, 2025 at 08:16 AM

Flying Eagles head coach, Aliyu Zubairu, has reacted to the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations draw.

The record seven-time champions have been drawn in Group C alongside Tunisia, Kenya, and Morocco.

Experts have tagged the draw as favourable for the Flying Eagles, but Zubairu believes there are no minor teams in Africa anymore.

“I think it is high time we stopped looking at some teams as bigger and others as smaller,”; he told Soccernet.ng.

“I don’t think there is any minor opposition in Africa any longer — it all depends on your level of preparation.”;

The Flying Eagles will begin their campaign at the competition against Tunisia on Monday, April 28.

The tournament is scheduled to run from April 27 to May 18, 2025, in Egypt.
