Ukraine: Trump fumes, slams Putin for Russian strike on Kyiv

Published on April 24, 2025 at 02:25 PM

President Donald Trump has expressed frustration with Russia after it launched deadly strikes on the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv.

“I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Lets get the Peace Deal DONE!,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Thursday.

The strike occurred hours after Trump had lashed out at Ukraine’s president.

DAILY POST reports that Russian missile strikes hit Kyiv on Thursday morning, killing at least eight people and injuring dozens of others.

According to multiple reports, the development marked the deadliest attack on the Eastern European nation’s capital city since last summer.

President Trump's administration has been pushing for a ceasefire in the war in Ukraine.

However, top officials have in recent days signaled they are prepared to walk away from negotiations if the two sides don’t reach a deal soon.

Fighting has been ongoing in Ukraine since Russian forces invaded in February 2022 after amassing troops near the border.
