United States journalist Laura Loomer has called out the country’s Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, for collaborating with John Bryant, founder of Operation HOPE, whom she described as a hater of President Donald Trump.
Loomer made this known in a statement on X on Thursday.
This comes after Bessent, on April 3, released a statement via his X account regarding a collaboration with Bryant on financial literacy initiatives.
“Financial literacy is a necessity, not a luxury. To kick off Financial Literacy Month, I had a great meeting with my longtime friend John Hope Bryant, who is collaborating with us at the U.S. Treasury on the Financial Literacy for All (FL4A) initiative. We look forward to working together to help deliver quality financial tools and knowledge to empower all Americans,” Bessent wrote.
Reacting, Loomer said Bryant should not be anywhere near the White House.
She justified her claim by resurfacing Bryant's past comments about former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, who banned Trump’s X (formerly Twitter) account on January 8, 2021, following the January 6 U.S. Capitol attack.
Loomer alleged that Bryant also called for Trump’s impeachment after the January 6 incident.
According to her, the relationship between Bessent and Bryant represents a failure in the White House’s vetting process, which she claimed puts President Trump at risk.
*”U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent invited rabid Trump hater John Hope Bryant to work with him at the U.S. Treasury despite Bryant’s public praise of former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey for banning President Trump’s X account on January 8, 2021, after January 6.
“Here’s the evidence that John Hope Bryant celebrated the deplatforming of President Trump and called for President Donald Trump to be impeached two days after January 6. He also called on Trump to resign after the incident, yet he has since been brought into the Trump administration by his good friend Scott Bessent.
“I am going to personally tell President Trump and show him these receipts.
“This is another egregious Trump administration vetting failure that puts President Trump at risk,”* she wrote on X.
DAILY POST reports that U.S. tech billionaire and Trump aide Elon Musk on Friday reacted to Loomer’s post, describing the situation as “troubling”; via his X account.
Meanwhile, as of the time of filing this report, neither Bessent nor Trump has responded to Loomer’s allegations.
