Published on April 12, 2025 at 11:15 AM

A woman identified as Mary Adams Gure has been rescued following a violent abduction by armed men at a prayer mountain in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

The incident, which occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, involved the kidnapping of worshippers during a prayer session at a remote mountain site in the Egbola area along Agbaja Road.

According to intelligence sources cited by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the attackers stormed the prayer ground, firing sporadically to instill fear before forcefully herding the worshippers into the nearby bush.

Amid the chaos, Gure managed to escape and later found safety, thanks to the swift intervention of local vigilante members who were alerted to the scene.

Security operatives were quickly mobilized in response to the attack, and a search-and-rescue operation is ongoing to locate and recover the remaining abducted individuals.

Spokespersons for Kogi State Police Command and other security agencies have yet to release official statements on the incident.
