I’ve made £1.5k on Vinted - the common mistake people always make and the savvy hack I swear by for the best captions

A SAVVY Vinted seller has revealed that she has made over £4,000 on Vinted thanks to her very simple tips.

Chloe Chandler, a side hustler from the UK, claimed that reserving items on Vinted is a huge no no and stressed that people always make the same common mistake which explains why their items aren’t selling.

Not only this, but Chloe, a fashion fan who has cashed in £4,286.84 through the marketplace app, also highlighted the importance of making counter offers if you want to shift items fast.

The content creator and Vinted enthusiast took to social media to share her top tips and tricks to sell items quickly, leaving many open-mouthed.

The blonde-haired beauty, who is a top Vinted seller with over 500 five star reviews, claimed that those looking to earn thousands by selling their old stuff should never reserve items.

She stressed: “Never, ever reserve an item for somebody – nine times out of 10, they'll come back and tell you that they don't want it anymore or they just won't get back to you and you have reserved it for no reason.”;

Additionally, Chloe claimed that Vinted sellers should “always send a counter offer”; if they want to flog items.

She advised: “Say somebody offers you £10, offer £11 or £12 or £13, depending on what the price point was before they sent the offer.”;

Not only this, but Chloe then shared the common mistake that many on Vinted make – and it’s about leaving items active for longer than a month.

To this, Chloe recommended: “After a month, say even three weeks, remove the item and re-upload it, especially during payday weekend.”;

But that’s not all, as Chloe also highlighted why putting one word into the description should be avoided at all costs.

She expressed: “You shouldn't just be putting ‘size medium’ or ‘great condition’ or ‘brand new’ – it should be a list of things about the item to make the buyer want to buy it. Write a whole paragraph if you can.”;

Finally, Chloe suggested why being kind will earn you cash.

The savvy seller concluded: “The last tip is to not be rude – even if they send you a really low offer, just be friendly, have a conversation, get a sale started with a conversation.”;

New Vinted rules to be aware of

IF you fancy clearing out your wardrobe and getting rid of your old stuff on Vinted, you’ll need to consider the new rules that recently came into play.

If people are selling personal items for less than they paid new (which is generally the case for second-hand sales), there is no impact on tax.

However, since January 1, digital platforms, including eBay, Airbnb, Etsy, Amazon and Vinted, must share seller information with HMRC as part of a crackdown.

You're unlikely to be affected if you only sell a handful of second-hand items online each year – generally, only business sellers trading for profitmightneed to pay tax.

A tax-free allowance of £1,000 has been in place since 2017 for business sellers trading for profit – the only time that an individual personal itemmightbe taxable is if it sells for more than £6,000 and there is a profit from the sale.

However, firms now have to pass on your data to HMRC if you sell 30 or more items a year or earn over £1,700.

It is part of a wider tax crackdown to help ensure that those who boost their income via side hustles pay up what they owe.

While your data won't be shared with HMRC if you earn between £1,000 and £1,700, you'll still need to pay tax as normal.

With Chloe’s top five tips, she acknowledged that “it’s really easy and really simple”; to sell well on the app and hammered home that being rude “won't get you anywhere.”;

Chloe’s TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @chloe_chandlerx, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 316,300 views.

Chloe’s helpful video has also amassed 9,688 likes, 487 comments and 3,006 saves.

Those eager to make cash through the app were keen to know more and many desperately flocked to the comments to ask Chloe for additional advice.

Another wondered: “Does bumping items work?”;

In response, Chloe wrote: “I haven’t ever tried it! Some people say it works well and others say it doesn't. I've heard really mixed opinions!”;

Meanwhile, a third questioned: “Would you re-upload an item that has been on for months even if it has a few favourites?”;

Setting the record straight, the savvy seller responded and shared: “Yes absolutely!! Delete the old listing then I would take new pics, type out a new description and then upload!!”;
