Viral dupe of iconic drink discontinued two years ago scanning at Sainsbury’s tills for just 65p

SAVVY shoppers have found the perfect replacement for a beloved soft drink that was discontinued years.

Not only have they found a , it also won't break the bank.

One shopper said Ting was the perfect replacement for Lilt

A shopper took to Facebook to share the exciting news that a canned drink called Ting, was a great alternative to the discontinued, Lilt.

“A much tastier alternative to Lilt. It is sold in major UK supermarkets and you'll find it in the Caribbean food aisles,” they wrote in the ‘Food Finds U.K' Facebook group.

The tropical tipple was discontinued in 2023 after 50 years on the market, leaving its fans devastated.

The post showed a photo of a green can with the word, Ting, emblazoned on the front.

Ting is a fizzy drink that is well loved in the Caribbean and sells for 65p at Sainsburys.

It is flavored with Jamaican grapefruit juice and tastes bot tart and sweet.

Other shoppers reacted to the find, with some pointing out it has been available in the U.K for years.

“Been drinking it for years. Nice with Rum,” wrote one person.

Everyone saying it’s been about for years need to understand it’s all about location. I lived in a village for about 33 years of my life and never saw any of these cans at all or like KA ones etc etc as there wasn’t any culture at all. Seriously none. Moved to a very urban area and this and KA about in every shop and supermarket and takeaways,” added another person.

It comes as shoppers are going mad over changes to the blackcurrant drink Ribena, saying it's made it “vile.”

has reformulated its blackcurrant squash recipe to slightly reduce its blackcurrant juice content.

Instead, a natural blackcurrant flavour has been added and an ingredient called polydextrose has been removed.

The new squash started to be sold at the beginning of March and people on social media complained about the change to the taste.

One wrote on social media website X: “Can’t believe I just wasted £1.25 on a bottle of ribena and it tastes like absolute p*** omggg when did they change the recipe I want to cry it’s vile.”;
