The interview saw Ronaldo call out his former Manchester United teammate for criticising him as well as suggesting that Rooney wasn’t as good looking as him.
He said: “I don’t know why he criticises me so badly… probably because he finished his career and I’m still playing at a high level.
“I’m not going to say that I’m looking better than him. Which is true…”
The pair were once close during their time together in Manchester, but couldn’t seem further apart today.
But it is Rooney that has now hit back after he took to social media to subtly taunt Ronaldo over his long-standing competition with Lionel Messi.
The D.C. United boss said on Twitter: “Nothing has changed”
The tweet was in reference to an old post of his back in 2012 in which he said: “Messi is a joke. For me the best ever.”
Back in November he told The Times: “Everyone has different views on [Lionel] Messi and Ronaldo but I have said many times that I think Messi is the best.
“I have watched lots of videos of Diego Maradona, who was a similar player, but Messi is better.
“He has everything — the way he controls games, his dribbling, his assists — whereas Ronaldo is more of a goalscorer.”
