The Federal Government has pledged its unwavering commitment to alleviating the hardships faced by Nigerians, reaffirming its resolve to implementing impactful policies and programs that enhance the nation's well-being.

State Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu disclosed this while speaking at flagging off of the N304million cash distribution to 5000 flood victims in Jigawa State, distributed by the Nigerian Red Cross Society in Auyo Local Government.

Represented by his Special Assistant, Mr Atiku Muhammad, he lauded the Nigerian Red Cross Society for its initiatives, stressing the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing humanitarian challenges.

According to him, “our administration, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is committed to alleviating suffering, combating poverty and promoting wellbeing of all citizens.”

“Together through collective effort and unwavering commitment, we can build future where nobody is left behind,” the minister said.

Earlier, President of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Oluyemisi Adeaga said Nigerian Red Cross Society has launched a large-scale relief effort in Jigawa State, providing support to 5,000 victims of the 2024 flood disaster across three Local Government of Auyo, Malam Madori, and Kirikasamma.

According to Adeaga, 3,000 families will receive N150 million in agricultural assistance to boost their farm yields, while another 2,000 families will benefit from N154 million in direct cash assistance.

Mr. Adeaga emphasized the Red Cross’s commitment to restoring dignity and supporting the most vulnerable members of society.

“We are not just distributing aid; we are distributing dignity,”; he stated.

State Commissioner of Special Duties, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Muhammad Bello, commended the Nigerian Red Cross for its humanitarian efforts in the state.
