‘We must revenge’: Kaduna police officer threatens southerners over Uromi killings

Published on April 02, 2025 at 04:10 PM

A Kaduna police officer, Hadaina Hussaini Dan-Taki, has threatened retaliation against southerners in response to the killing of 16 northerners in Uromi, Edo State.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Dan-Taki vowed that northerners would strike back.

He said: “I swear to Almighty God, we must do something for you guys. Have you forgotten all your brothers that are living here in the North?

“Mark my word, after one week you shall see the result.”

After backlash, he changed his name and restricted access to his Facebook page.

An X user, Uche (#UcheDIgboezeson), shared a screenshot of his post and tagged Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, calling for action.

Adejobi responded: “Noted for necessary action. Thanks.”

DAILY POST reports that no fewer than 14 suspects have been arrested so far in connection with the Uromi killings.

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, confirmed the suspects have been transferred to Abuja for interrogation.

The victims, hunters from Kano, were ambushed last Thursday while travelling for Sallah celebrations. After weapons were found in their vehicle, they were killed by a mob, sparking nationwide outrage.
