We’ll return hostages ‘in coffins’ – Hamas threatens Israel

Published on March 26, 2025 at 04:05 PM

Hamas on Wednesday threatened to return hostages in coffins if Israeli air strikes in Gaza continues.

Hamas warned that it's becoming difficult to keep hostages alive with Israeli's continued airstrikes

In a statement, the group said it was “doing everything possible to keep the occupation’s captives alive, but the random Zionist (Israeli) bombardment is endangering their lives”.

“Every time the occupation attempts to retrieve its captives by force, it ends up bringing them back in coffins,” it added.

Israel restarted its aerial bombardments across Gaza Strip last week, following up the move with ground operations.

The recommencement ends the calm afforded by a January ceasefire with Hamas.

Reports by the Palestinian Health Ministry said no fewer than 830 people have been killed since Israel resumed its military operations in Gaza.

The war was sparked by the militant group’s October 7, 2023 attack on Israel, which resulted in the deaths of 1,218 people, mostly civilians.

Israel’s retaliatory military offensive has killed at least 50,183 people in Gaza, mostly civilians, according to the health ministry.
