The tipple, first created in 2005 and brewed by Derbyshire-based Thornbridge, has an ABV of 5.9% so isn't for the faint-hearted.

The comes with a citrus aroma and balanced, smooth finish.

Punters can already pick up the beer across selected pubs but it will be rolled out across the whole pub estate from Wednesday.

The price of the pint will vary based on which Wetherspoons pub you go into, but we found it as cheap as £2.10 at one branch.

You can find out how much the beer costs in your local Spoons pub by using the app.

It is free to download onto a smartphone via Play or the App Store.

It comes after Wetherspoons line up.

Punters can pick up a pint for £3.20 every Monday through Spoons' Monday Club deal, or £3.99 at other times.

Customers were quick to react online after finding out the classic beer was being added to menus.

One said: “Great stuff. I miss 1664 being on tap. You can't get it anywhere now round my way.”

Another said: “Lovely lager is 1664.”

Meanwhile, a third commented: “A good move IMO (in my opinion). Kronenbourg's a good lager.”

Spoons also recently made a change to its food menu at 650 pubs.

Customers can now choose from a breakfast muffin or small breakfast with soft or hot drink from 8am to midday, with veggie options available.

Meanwhile, tea and toast, which comes with two slices and either jam or marmalade, costs £2.49.

WETHERSPOONS HIKES PRICES

Flying Eze Spoons had upped the price of a host of popular drinks and menu items across its pubs.

The chain bumped up prices on drinks by 15p while meal deals were increased by 30p.

The price rises saw the cost of a at the and South Western branch in south west London go from £4.66 to £4.81.

Meanwhile, the price of a Strongbow increased from £3.24 to £3.39.

The average price of a meal deal at Spoons without an alcoholic drink was £4.99 and with a drink was £6.52 before the change.

But the 30p rise means they now cost £5.29 and £6.82, respectively.

Spoons said a number of drinks had not gone up in price, including all draught lagers such as Budweiser, Carling and Coors.
