Minari was one of the best movies that came out in 2020. After its historic Oscar win, many individuals looking forward to watching the enthralling cinematic endeavor are more than curious to learn when the motion picture will be available to stream on Netflix.
The film is a semi-biographical take on writer and director Lee Isaac Chung’s upbringing, and the plot follows a South Korean family starting a farm in Arkansas during the 1980s. Indie distributor powerhouse A24, known for putting out some stellar titles like Room, Euphoria, Spring Breakers, Ex Machina, The Witch, and many more, distributed the film made by Plan B, the production company behind such flicks as Moonlight, The Departed, and 12 Years a Slave.
Starring in this well-received affair is The Walking Dead’s Steven Yeun, who was nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars, Han Ye-ri, Alan Kim, Noel Kate Cho, Will Patton, and Youn Yuh-Jun who won the Academy Award for her performance in Minari. Overall it received six Academy Award nominations, and Minari also received the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film.
The film is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and remains one of the top tier favorites by most critics when compiling a list of the best features that grace the big screen in the year 2020. It’s really no wonder that many subscribers on the streaming service Netflix are curious to get some kind of timetable as to when they can stream the critically acclaimed, award-winning motion picture.
When is Minari coming to Netflix?
Unfortunately, there have been no announcements or news regarding whether or not Minari will be available on Netflix. Right now, it is still showing in some theaters and is available on most VOD platforms. It is unknown at this time where it will go when it decides to make its home on a streaming network. It looks like Minari might be available to stream on Showtime in the near future with the current A24-Showtime deal in place.
There is a chance it could still make its way to Netflix at some point down the line, like in a year or so, but only time will tell. Most A24 movies, like many of the titles listed above, have been on Netflix for a time. Many are still available to stream, including Moonlight. For now, Netflix subscribers can enjoy other Oscar-caliber endeavors like Mank, The Trial of the Chicago 7, and many more.
