Netflix shared some incredible news about Money Heist season 5! We finally know the Money Heist season 5 release date… or as you’ll soon find out, release dates.
Yes, there are two release dates for Money Heist season 5. In a plot twist, Netflix announced the final season of Money Heist will be split into two parts. And, it’s coming to Netflix this year.
Each part will consist of five episodes, bringing the season 5 total to 10 episodes. We knew that the season of the Netflix original series would be 10 episodes, but we didn’t know they’d be split up into two batches.
We’re not sure exactly why Money Heist season 5 will be released in two parts, but it’s very much the trend Netflix is going with lately. We’ve seen it already for a number of Netflix originals, including Ozark season 4.
Money Heist season 5 release date
According to Netflix, Money Heist season 5 part 1, or Volume, 1, will be released on Sept. 3, 2021.
That’s right in line with what we’d been hearing about the release date all this time. There were lots of rumors and some reports that Money Heist season 5 would be released in September 2021. So, it’s good to know that those were right!
Luckily, we won’t have to wait too long for Money Heist season 5 part 2.
Netflix will release Money Heist season 5 part 2, or Volume 2, on Dec. 3, 2021. So, there’s only about three months between each set of episodes.
It sounds like each half of the season will have a very different vibe. According to a report from Variety, creator Alex Pina said:
“When we began to write Part 5 in the midst of the pandemic, we felt that we had to change what was expected from the ten-episode season and used every tool we could to create the sensation of a season finale or series finale in the first volume itself,” said series creator Álex Pina. “We decided to work in an extremely aggressive genre, putting The Gang on the ropes. In volume 2, we focus more on the emotional situation of the characters. It is a journey across their sentimental map that connects us directly to their departure.”
To me, that means we’ll probably see how it all ends in the first half of season 5, and then we’ll be going backward, and maybe into the future after it’s all come to an end. So, I think we can definitely expect more flashbacks to fill in some of the gaps and expand on these characters.
I can’t wait to see how it all ends! I’m excited we don’t have to wait too long to find out what’s going to happen with all these great characters.
