Why I didn’t sign Omah Lay – Olamide

Published on September 17, 2023 at 04:22 PM

Nigerian rapper and music executive Olamide Adedeji, simply known as Olamide, has revealed why he didn’t sign singer Omah Lay to his YBNL Nation label.

The YBNL boss said he wanted to sign Omah Lay in the early days of his career, but the singer informed him that he already had a contract with another label.

Baddo, as he is fondly called, disclosed this in an interview with British-Nigerian media personality Adesope Olajide, aka Shopsydoo.

Olamide said, “Somebody sent me Omah Lay’s song, ‘Bad Influence,’ I had to like search for him on Instagram. I messaged him that I want to sign him but he told me that he got a [recording] deal already.”;

The rapper also revealed that he was depressed for about four years after running out of hit songs.

He, however, said he got his “swag back”; after releasing hits like ‘Wo’ and ‘Motigbana.’

“Till date, songs like WO, MOTIGBANA, are like magic to me. I thought I could never get myself again. I was going crazy,”; he said.
