‘Why many brands don’t want to be associated with me’ – Oluwadolarz

Nigerian skit maker Oluwadolarz has explained why many people and brands misunderstand his character and reputation.

Speaking in an interview on the Open Up podcast, he revealed that some brands avoid collaborating with him because of his stage name, Oluwadolarz.

While explaining the origin of his stage name, he stated that “Oluwadolarz” made many believe he was involved in fraudulent activities.

“My stage name, ‘Dolarz,’ first started in 2010 when I was a stand-up comedian. They called me ‘Dolarz’ because I cracked a joke about the rise and fall of the dollar.

“So, people forgot my real name because that’s the joke they remember when they see me. Around 2014, I started saying, ‘Oluwa is involved.’ When people called me Dolarz, I replied with, ‘Oluwa is involved.’ That is how Oluwadolarz was coined.

“However, because of the name Oluwadolarz, a lot of people thought I was a Yahoo boy or a bad guy. Brands don't want to be associated with me due to the misconception that I am just a Yahoo boy trying to cover up with comedy.”;

Born Olamide Ogunleye, Oluwadolarz recently made headlines after his fiancée and baby mama, Ifeluv, announced their breakup and accused him of infidelity and financial neglect.
