Wike congratulates Gov Okpebholo over tribunal victory

Published on April 02, 2025 at 08:10 PM

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has congratulated Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State on the tribunal judgment affirming his victory in the September 2024 governorship election.

Wike urged the governor to remain focused and not be distracted by those who, in his words, “are only interested in getting power through the back doors.”

In a statement issued on Monday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the FCT Minister described the ruling as further confirmation of the mandate freely given to Okpebholo by the people of Edo State.

He noted that the victory belonged to the people of Edo State, who elected Okpebholo, and called for greater commitment to serving them.

Expressing confidence in Okpebholo’s ability to bring relief to the people of Edo State, Wike said: “I believe in him, and with the way he has started, I am confident that his government will positively impact Edo State and its people.”
