ARSENAL captain Martin Odegaard scored twice to send the Gunners FIVE points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta’s side were already confirmed to be top of the pile going into the World Cup after Brentford’s stunning lunchtime win at Manchester City.

But the brilliant Odegaard made sure the Gunners can tuck into their Christmas Day dinner five points ahead of Pep Guardiola’s side.

And 10 out of the last 13 sides to be top of the Prem at Christmas have gone on to lift the title.

The Gunners were dealt an early blow at Molineux when midfielder Granit Xhaka was forced off through sickness.

When Stuart Attwell’s whistle blew for half-time it was 0-0, with the nerves among the Gunners faithful sure to be building.

But Odegaard struck twice after the break to give his side a precious three points.

By the end there were even cries of “Ole”; from the travelling Gunners fans as their side knocked the ball around confidently.
