Wolves plot ambitious double transfer for Real Madrid pair Nacho Fernandez and Mariano Diaz

NEW WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS boss Julen Lopetegui is reportedly plotting a double transfer swoop on former club Real Madrid.

The Spaniard, 56, was announced as the Premier League side’s manager last week – but he will not officially take charge until November 14.

Even though he is yet to start work at Molineux, it appears he is already getting into the thick of it on the transfer front.

And a fresh report in his homeland has claimed that he wants to bring both Nacho Fernandez and Mariano Diaz to Wolves in January from Madrid.

Estadio Deportivo claims that Lopetegui’s interest in the pair has “resumed”; after wanting to sign them both in the past.

He worked with both players during his infamously brief stint in charge of Madrid.

Lopetegui wanted to sign Dominican Republic striker Diaz, 29, when he was at the helm of Sevilla.

Now he could finally get his hands on the hitman, who has scored six times in 46 LaLiga appearances for Madrid since his arrival from Lyon in 2018.

He is currently not in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans and may be allowed to leave the Bernabeu in January.

Lopetegui also instructed Sevilla director Monchi to get defender Nacho, 32, but ultimately failed to land the defender.

The 32-year-old has been at Madrid since joining their academy over 20 years ago but he is out of contract in June.

And the report states that Wolves could do the Spanish giants “a favour”; by signing him in the winter transfer window for a cut-price fee rather than the experienced ace sitting out his deal and leaving for nothing,
