World Cup: My son wept after Argentina’s defeat to Saudi Arabia – Messi

Published on November 28, 2022 at 08:14 PM

Argentina captain, Lionel Messi, has revealed that his son, Mateo, immediately started crying after his side’s World Cup 2-1 loss to Saudi Arabia last week.

Recall that Saudi Arabia came from a goal down to beat Argentina on November 22.

Speaking after Argentina’s World Cup 2-0 win against Mexico over the weekend, Messi said via Mirror, “Mateo left the stadium crying after the first game (vs Saudi Arabia) and Thiago came out counting telling me that if we won both games we would qualify.

“My family suffers the same as all Argentines but we’re happy and we get comfortable again because now our progress depends on us.”;

Messi will now hope to lead Argentina to victory when they face Poland on Wednesday.
