World Cup: What England players will do if they eliminate Wales from tournament – Shaw

Published on November 28, 2022 at 02:00 AM

England defender, Luke Shaw, has insisted that his teammates will be ‘respectful’ of rivals Wales if they beat them at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

England and Wales will clash in their last game of Group B on Tuesday, with both teams looking to qualify for the round of 16 ahead of the USA and Iran.

A defeat against England means Wales will be sent packing from the tournament as they currently sit at the bottom in Group B with one point after two games.

“I think we are a respectful group. We do things in the right way,”; Shaw, a Manchester United player, said at his pre-match press conference.

“That is the example Gareth [Southgate] wants to set. We are fully behind that. We are fully respectful. That is the way Gareth sets us out to be.

“I think their [Wales’] motivation is going to be extremely high. They’re going to give everything to win.

“It is not an easy game. But we need to focus on what we do. The talent we have, the depth we’ve, we need to focus on ourselves. If we prepare properly, we should win the game.”;
