Yobe university ASUU meets govt, makes fresh demands

Published on April 24, 2025 at 05:12 AM

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU), Yobe State University Chapter, has advocated for better funding of the state-owned varsity in order to enhance conducive atmosphere for effective teaching, learning and research.

The Chapter's Chairman, Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim Karage made the case when the leadership of the Union paid a courtesy visit to Governor Mai Mala Buni.

While appreciating the Governor for awarding scholarships to students, especially law students, he also appealed to the government to look into other issues affecting the university.

Gov. Buni represented by his Deputy, Idi Barde Gubana, explained that his administration is committed to addressing issues relating to the Union amid competing demands.

He assured the ASUU leadership that government will continue to give priority attention to the state-owned university with a view to enhancing its academic and physical development.

Buni appealed to ASUU to remain calm and continue to engage with the government, while his administration works out modalities for amicable resolution of the issues raised by the members.

He called for mutual understanding between the Government and the Union.
