Published on March 29, 2025 at 10:13 AM

A new Commissioner, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, has been deployed to the Zamfara State Police Command following the promotion of the outgoing Commissioner, Muhammad Dalinjan Shehu.

The former Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Dalinjan, was promoted to Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) and reassigned to the Counter-Terrorism Unit at Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The command’s spokesman, DSP Yazid Abubakar, said that the new CP, Maikaba, brings a wealth of experience from various police formations across the country.

His career spans multiple roles, including Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in several states, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in strategic units, and Commissioner of Police (CP) at the Ports Authority Police Command in Lagos.

Born in Nasarawa LGA of Kano State, Maikaba holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Bayero University, Kano, and joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1994 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

In his inaugural address, the new police chief affirmed his commitment to intelligence-driven policing, crime prevention, and strengthening community collaboration to enhance security across Zamfara State.
